ピカソは1962-1963年の間に、《Portrait de Famille Ingresque（アングル風家族の肖像）》という主題で一連のリトグラフとリノカットを制作しました。

この作品は、ルーヴル美術館に収蔵されているジャン＝オーギュスト＝ドミニク・アングルによる1806年のフォレスティエ家のデッサンに着想を得ています。そこにはアングルの婚約者ジュリー・フォレスティエが、両親、叔父、そしてメイドとともに描かれています。

ピカソの版画の中では、老夫婦が中心に配置され、構図が変更されています。この主題は繰り返し描かれていることから、当時のピカソにとって重要な意味を持っていたのではと思われます。

このリノカットは、ピカソのキャリアを支えた画商カーンワイラーの流れを組むギャラリールイスレイリスが発行し、メトロポリタン美術館などにも収められている価値がある作品です。

とりわけこの版は作家保存版としてピカソが保存していたもので、ピカソのカタログレゾネ編纂者クリスチャン・ゼルボスの妻、イボンヌ・ゼルボスに贈られた歴史的価値があります。

Between 1962 and 1963, Picasso produced a series of lithographs and linocuts under the theme Portrait de Famille Ingresque (Ingresque Family Portrait).

This work was inspired by an 1806 drawing of the Forestier family by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, from the collection of the Louvre Museum. In that drawing, Ingres’ fiancée Julie Forestier appears together with her parents, an uncle, and a maid.

In Picasso’s print, however, the composition is altered: an elderly couple occupies the central position. The fact that Picasso revisited this subject several times suggests that it held particular significance for him at the time.

This linocut was published by Galerie Louise Leiris, which continued the legacy of the dealer Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, one of the key figures who supported Picasso’s career. The work is held in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This edition is especially notable as it was part of Picasso’s artist’s own reserved copies. It was later presented to Yvonne Zervos, the wife of Christian Zervos, the compiler of Picasso’s catalogue raisonné.
